Mushroom spore syringes are items used for starting a mushroom culture. The syringes are filled with a water solution that contains mushroom spores and that need to be injected into the substrate of choice for the mushrooms to start proliferating. To achieve the best results, mushroom spore syringes need to be prepared in a sterile environment, using spores of the right quality and they also need to be stored and used observing some special rules. Here are some of those important rules:
- Storage among controlled circumstances – a mushroom spore syringe needs to be kept in a sterile environment, at low temperatures. The best way to achieve that is with the help of a small fridge that you use only for storing mushroom syringes.
- Use your syringe within a couple of months – when you receive your mushroom spore syringe, it will come with a best before date. While the syringes stored in a dark, cool place might be suitable for usage for years, ideally, you should use your syringes before the expiry day.
- Wear a sterile equipment when applying the liquid in your syringes – that way, you can prevent the contamination of your spores as well as the contamination of your clothes.
